Farm Visit!

As promised, I'll briefly post about the farm tour that I had today. It was pretty fabulous... and I'm moving Limerick there on Thursday! There aren't many options within a reasonable distance from my school, so unless I really hated it, I was going to seriously consider it as an option for escaping this pumpkin cannon fiasco. The good news is that I LOVED it. The woman who owns and manages the farm basically just does it because she loves horses and it keeps her busy. Her husband is some sort of doctor, so she gets to have fun with this and provides a really personal level of care that I think will be great for Limerick. Some quick details:

  • 16x16 stalls with huge windows for Lim to look out of
  • 100+ acres with many flat areas that the owner regularly checks for holes (good for galloping... lots of eventers at the farm)
  • Outdoor ring with brand new footing (even though it's been raining nonstop for days, there was not a single puddle!)
  • Heated waterers in the pastures and small turnout groups with very flexible turnout
  • Owner will feed whatever you want and will even order it for you
  • Blankets, supplements, and holding all taken care of if needed w/ no extra charge
  • Closer to school than my current farm :)
  • 4 girls from school board there... YAY barn friends
  • My best barn friend at my current farm, Kimmie, is also going to move with me
  • It's gorgeous and so green and open
  • A well-known event trainer comes out at least once a week to teach lessons, though is often out there on weekends as well
  • Owner is very knowledgeable and is basically a walking horse encyclopedia
  • Other than lack of indoor, it's perfect
  • Considerably cheaper than my current farm... can't beat that!
So yeah, I'm excited. I was supposed to take pictures today and totally got caught up in asking questions/just picturing Limerick and I galloping through the fields and trail riding with friends, so I forgot. I'll take a bunch when we move on Thursday and post them ASAP :)

An older picture of us, just because I hate to post without some sort of color included
