Circus Pony?

I've decided that Limerick is probably quite intelligent, and definitely talented with his nose/mouth. He is the weirdest horse I've ever met in that he will literally pick up anything and carry it around with him.

For example, the one time I rode in Collyn's dressage saddle, she set the saddle on the saddle rack right next to Lim's open stall door, with the girth resting on top of it. Around this time, I ran into the tack room to grab something else, and when I came back out, the girth was gone. I asked Collyn what she had done with it and she told me that she put it on the saddle, so we were both very confused for a few seconds. Then, we simultaneously said "LIMERICKKKK"  and peered into his stall. Sure enough, the little thief had carried it in there and dropped it into his food bucket. Luckily he didn't damage it, or he would've been a dead little thief... If I set saddle pads on top of my saddle, he knocks them onto the ground.

If I have my grooming box sitting outside of his stall, he sticks his nose into the compartment with the peppermints and vacuums them into his mouth, plastic and all. He tries to undress any horse within his reach, nibbling on its tack. I think you get the idea!

He continued this little trend yesterday with the garbage can lid. I was the only one at the farm and had a horrible kink in my neck/didn't feel like riding, so I just kind of let him follow me around and do whatever he wanted. His first instinct was to go to the garbage can and attempt to take the lid off with his nose. He did, so I went over and put it back on before he could start eating trash. We repeated this process at least 4 times, me laughing at him, before I decided to film it because it was so ridiculously cute!

I wanted to ride since this week is my Thanksgiving break and I'm going home, so I got on bareback in athletic leggings and Uggs... it was quite an adventure (NOTE: leggings are very slippery)! He was very sweet and loving yesterday, which I like to think was because he knows I'm leaving. I won't get to ride again until a week from today :( The week after Thanksgiving is also going to be hell on Earth for me if I don't write quite a few papers and do a project over break, which will be difficult because I'm going to FL for my sister's field hockey tourney. If I want to see my horse at all before finals, I'm going to have to focus and kick some biology/Holocaust butt over break (clarification: I'm currently taking a course on the Holocaust). Here are some pictures of the circus pony from yesterday!

Eating an apple that he dropped

Posing with his fave new toy

He loves me, I swear!
Nose shot (AKA trying to eat my phone)

Weird picture- he was halfway in the sun

Puppy dog eyes <3
ALSO, because I'm going home for break this afternoon, I get to see Hill and Hue :)!!!!!! I'm taking pictures of their ride, so I'll post some later!

  2. My horse likes to grab things in his mouth too! He once grabbed a book that my BO put down and shook it around in his mouth like a dog. A playful horse is a lot of fun

  4. He reminds me so much of my girl it is scary, they even look kind of alike - must be the Irish connection ;-)
She's not quite as into garbage, but does like to pick things up - anything left within reaching distance is hazardous. She is like a giant child in that it is guaranteed to end up in her mouth!
She's a great help with stable cleaning utensils...or so she thinks. She really just likes to knock them over or stick her nose in it as i try to clear out her offerings!

LOVE Love love the last two headshots, the B&W and the eye at the end. Did you take those on your phone?!

I hope you have a great break and get your work done so that you can spend some time with Lim when you get back!

    1. They do look very similar!! That's Limmers to a tee :)

Thank you so much! I did take them with my phone... I edited them to intensify the color, but I've gotten pretty good at taking pictures with my phone since I have it with me all the time.

Thanks, I'm GOING to get stuff done... or at least telling myself that :) I know I will eventually do homework, but it's so hard since I'm with my family and traveling, etc.

    1. ... a talent for doing stupid stuff :) We also learned that he's pretty good at jumping jumps even when his rider is flapping around like a chicken, trying to get the reins back and screaming at him!
