Unfortunately, I don't have a very good memory of my first horse show. I know it was kind of hunter-y and I distinctly remember hating every minute of it... so it was my first and last horse show for 10+ years. I was probably around 7 years old and it took place at the barn where I lessoned and kept my pony. I have two ribbons, one blue and one white, to show for it, though I really couldn't tell you how I got them.

Therefore, I'm gonna pretend that I participated in my first show at the ripe old age of 19. It was right at the beginning of my second year of college, at Lakeside show grounds. I had Limerick at the time, our partnership was relatively new, and man did he show his true colors. He was a complete shit head, for lack of a better term ;) I couldn't even warm him up the first night we were there because he was a total nutcase and I was a huge weanie. Eventually, someone got on him for me and worked him out of his stupidity, which luckily never resurfaced at that show but would come back to haunt us when we started eventing the following summer.
I'm ashamed to admit this, but my weanie-ness meat that we did a couple of poles classes. Yes, we trotted over poles on the ground... gives you an idea of how far I've come in just two years! Not only did I completely change disciplines, but I have a different horse and we're about to move up to novice :) I unfortunately seem to have deleted all pictures from the show, but here are a few:
