How to Engage Your Horse's Back

I found this on Eventing Nation and thought it was fascinating and super helpful! Can't wait to try these things with Limerick!

Now I'm comparing to the pictures of Limerick and Kristen.. he definitely wasn't engaged, but do any of you know how much butt-highness will affect the engaged appearance of his back? He is incredibly butt high, so his back might always look hollow..?

LIGHTBULB MOMENT!! I see it :)

  3. Hmmm. Now you have me intrigued as well. Thanks for sharing. As for butt-highness, I would think that no matter how high his butt, it would always just even out with each horse. But I really have no idea

    1. and by "even out", I mean it will look rounded no matter, but I agree with Collyn below that it simply might be more difficult for him. You should show us some pictures :)

  4. He'll be able to come through his back, but picking his shoulders up and getting his butt under him in order to get there is going to be the really hard part because he's so downhill. It doesn't stop him from being able to come through, just makes it a lot harder for him & you. ...I think

  5. Good video now that I can actually see it :) Don't know about the butt high ness. I am inclined to go with Collyn in that he can still do it it would just be harder conformation wise? Not sure about that that though.
